Who we are

What we collect and why

Enquiries and reservations. Your name, email address, phone number and any message you send. We use these to reply to you and to hold a car for you. Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
Finance applications. In addition to the above, the deposit you can put down, the repayment term you want, your employment status and your annual income. We use these to find lenders likely to approve you. Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in arranging finance.
Site usage. If you agree to analytics cookies, we collect which pages and cars you view. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

We do not ask for, and you should never send us, bank details, card numbers or copies of identity documents through this website.

Who we share it with

Lenders on our panel, but only when you submit a finance application, and only the information needed to assess it.
Our hosting and database providers, who store the data on our behalf under contract and may not use it for their own purposes.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a sale are deleted after 24 months. Records relating to a vehicle you bought are kept for six years, because tax law and the Consumer Rights Act require us to be able to evidence the transaction. Analytics data is kept for 14 months.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or send it to someone else. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, and you can withdraw consent for analytics at any time using the cookie link in our footer. Write to carfixmotors.uk@gmail.com and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.

Changes

If we change how we use your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant we will tell you directly.
